By using cameras to get environmental image information and by processing the visual information with a computer, computer vision is a popular and valuable research topic with a very wide range of applications. By using computer vision method it is researched on distance measurement of small dynamic objects in panoramic space in this paper. It is first proposed in this paper that binocular vision is used in dynamic video monitor in panoramic space to measure the small dynamic objects. The paper begins with the purpose and research status of the distance measurement in panoramic space. Then it introduces theories of two related researches and the system used in this paper. Next, it explains each research step with several chapters:it discusses camera calibration and rectification and an improved distortion correction method is proposed. It explains the image mosaicking theory and the dynamic image showing method. In small dynamic objects detection and matching theory, it is proposed a new simple matching algorithm based order, and then the view change theory is introduced by the time of objects tracking. At last the result of experiments with binocular vision show the effectiveness and accuracy of the system and it is proved the system can be successfully used in monitoring, tracking and measuring small dynamic objects in panoramic space in real-time.Video monitor in panoramic space by image mosaicking is a new way of dynamic objects tracking, and it also widens the range of research of dynamic objects distance measurement.
