With the continuous evolution of the Internet technology, network size has undertaken an explosive growth. Although simple and open IP network contributes to the rapid development of the Internet, its development has brought security problems among which the security weakness is the most important one. Thus, a demand for monitoring network data arises. In order to meet the demand, port mirroring system, which is supported by configuration management, has been developed by switch manufacturers.In this thesis, the configuration management of port mirroring was designed and implemented based on the advanced distributed switch software platform. The main work and features of this thesis are formulated as below:1) The focuses of analysis are internal module interfaces and external interfaces between port mirroring system and other modules of the platform. These analyses are very effective for development system to process configuration data.2) The development of the system is running real-time Linux-based software platform for advanced switches. It makes full use of the LINUX operating system features: multi-threaded, preemptive, kernel modules can be dynamically loaded.3) Based on Key-Value, non-sql-memory database is introduced. This database is the guarantee of real-time and high reliability configuration information in port mirroring.4) CIOCTL is designed as an asynchronous communication between user mode and kernel, which makes port mirroring system effectively support advanced distributed switch.5) The multi-thread synchronous waiting is applied for data synchronization between the boards, which has configuration data successfully synchronized among the boards of advanced distributed switch.6) HA design program is proposed to provide a guarantee of the interrupted use of port mirroring.At present, the design of the port mirroring configuration management has been tested and applied to the company's latest advanced distributed switch products. At the same time the system framework design has also been adopted by other application software platform module on the switch, as a result, the whole process of the platform system has been efficiently improved.
