Since the reform and opening policy, the society and economy of our coutry have won the unprecedented fast development. Below this kind of big trend, international shipping gradually become large-scale and professional in order to adapt to the requirement of the rapid social and economic development. The funciton and equipment of our ports are old, and inefficiency has gradually become the main contradiction of port development. Epecially, some old ports already can not adapt to the requirement of current situation because of old equipment and improper management. The ports must have been made to industrial technology transformed. Making port into a modern, informationization, industrialized port becomes the key for port transformation.With the industry stability and the logic controllability of PLC and the openness, the advantage of internetwork communication and data processing ability of Fieldbus, Fieldbus+PLC distributed control system has been widely applicated in port development.Fieldbus+PLC distributed control system can not only unite the processes of production and management, but also come into being the system which is called incorporated manage and control. Besides, Fieldbus and PLC distributed control system can realize the interconnection with the internet, remote monitoring and informtion sharing which enhance economic benefits of enterprises, and benefit the whole society.This paper mainly discuss about a port control system which use industrial ethernet as upper control network to connect control systems, and use PROFIBUS DP fieldbus as lower control network to connect control equipments. Also, the port control system contains Configuration technology, PLC, and distributed I/O.This paper first introduces the background and meaning of this study briefly, and discuss the advantage of using distributed I/O over centralized I/O. After that, compositon of upper computer montor system and design of each configuration screen is introduced based on expounding process flow. Then, the design of PLC and network structure of this system is introduced. At last, characteristics and key technology of this control system is analyzed and thoroughly discussed, especailly the application of B&R distributed I/O.After practice has proved, the operation situation of this system is stable and satisfactory.
