Multiple Input Multiple Output system is not only the direction of the development of the current wireless communication systems, but also the important research direction in the next generation of mobile communication. Without increasing the transmit power and system bandwidth,MIMO technology can greatly improve channel capacity and spectral efficiency. Space-time coding being one of the key technologies of the MIMO system, it can significantly increase the reliability of the system and reduce the bit error rate. Space-time coding is mainly using channel coding in the different sending branch to increase the capacity. It is a very potential technology for the next generation of mobile communication. Space-time coding mainly includes Space-Time Block Codes (STBC), Space-Time Trellis Codes (STTC) and Layered Space-Time Codes (LSTC).Based on the radio channel propagation models, the paper introduces several different models and corresponding channel capacities of MIMO systems. Then those system models and design criteria of the space-time coding technology are analyzed, particularly the feature of the block diagram, encoding and decoding algorithm of STBC, STTC and LSTC. Finally, the performances of above schemes for space-time coding are simulated, and corresponding simulation results are given in the paper. |
