In the information age,while the communication technology is being developed, the users of telecom hope the diversity of communicationand the quality becoming better and beter。The telecommunications also think that the users of telecom like them to do something like those:the service model will be transformed from single to more,even than the all; the much more bandwidth and the higher rate; Good experience of Internet; To assure the security of user data. To break the localization of bandwidth by twisted pair access; To cater to the bandwidth needs of the users, such as hd TV, Live coverage by twisted pair access of long distance covering;reduce the number of Network Nodes, all of that, make sure that the optical fiber will be in and the Copper cable out.This thesis is based on the technology involved in EPON。The first chapterintroduced: 1,EPON and the PON technology principle in detail; 2,TCP/IP technology, including IPV4 technology; 3,PPP/PPPOE Protocol; 4,AAA technologies, VOIP technology, multicast technology and so on. In addition, The second chapter details the most welcomed by the majority of users, carrying voice services on the telecom operators EPON devices, broadband service, CATV operations. This article analyses the constitute of PON by the access network for development trend of technology,include OLT,splite and ONU. This article introduces the EPON technology. At the same time,it analyses the related network technology. In the practical application of technology, in accordance with EPON features:1,can carry high-bandwidth services,can carry a variety of business; 3,network configuration flexibility to meet the individual needs of various users; 4,little actual construction constraints or limited;the FTTX network, includes FTTH,FTTB/FTTO is using in everywhere.And the network topologys can be used to explain the different network to match the needs of different users. It introduces Voice service,broadband service,CATV, etc. The last chapter also lists zte EPON equipment C220 as an example to introduce detailly.And then it showed the case that china telecom's operators had fixed the FTTX equipments in both urban and rural areas with engineering construction of EPON. Finally, PON technology for the development of recent years and demand trends in the telecommunications business interaction characteristics, GPON technology will be a bold prediction in the near future to be large-scale development, and will eventually replace the EPON technology, become another strong support of the healthy development of the telecom operator.
