In recent years, the readers of same city newspapers are not only divided by the network, but also by the explosive competitions between the newspapers in the same city. In the process of competitions, the phenomenon of news homogeneity,"the same edition on hundreds of newspapers", appears in many capital cities successively.However, four city newspapers in Sichuan jumped out of the error of homogeneity during the competition. They protruded their features form the position, continent, layout, and issue mode of newspapers, the service mode of advertisement and newspaper and other aspects. They competed differentially with others through finding markets that fit their advantages, targeting different readers respectively, and weaving their own readers'network by their own characteristics.This study concerns about the group of the city newspapers in Hang Zhou where the trend of news differentiation has been basically formed. It analyzes the news differentiation of this group, including the amount of information, the continent of local news, the regional characteristics of local news, the proportion of different types of news, the method of layout, the planned column, the special issues, the set of Weekend Forum, etc. Study finds that the news differentiation is the external representation and result of city newspapers'media positioning and its nature is the difference of media positioning. The mind of media positioning is carried out through the news differentiation and reflected in every detail of news operations. This study will prove the causal relationship between media positioning and news differentiation through the news examples and summarize what kind of way the development of same city newspapers will go along with facts and arguments.
