Marine science is becoming more and more important because of its complexity and the huge influence of climate change in 21 century. The first step of marine science is ocean observation. One of the main goal of ocean observation is to obtain an useful oceano graphic data and carry on a research to the ocean solid by making use of modern science and technology on the foundation of data, which include marine organism, marine chemistry, marine surveying and so on. In all the technological means for the study of marine science, the GIS application in marine science undoubtedly is the current hot spot of marine science. This paper are mainly combined with BCO-DMO's daily work, dealing with biochemical data collected by WHOI (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) related projects and render all those data online under open source development environment, finally, provide an accessible and downloadable link for scientific community. All those data developed in the course of scientific research and contributed by the originating investigators. The BCO-DMO data system facilitates data stewardship, dissemination, and storage on short and intermediate time-frames. Our main objective is to support the scientific community through improved access to ocean science data. Ultimately, implement the Web GIS service of marine data. The main contents of this article, including:(1) Render the Bio-Chemical data on line by JGOFS/GLOBEC data rendering system(2) Process, convert and render metadata by CGI, Perl and PHP(3) Visualize oceanographic cruise data by Gnuplot(4) Collect NSF metadata and created an storable interface to BCO-DMO metadata database.(5) Try to migrate BCO-DMO metadata database to Drupal content management system. (6) Try to manage BCO-DMO metadata by Ontology technique.
