Left hand material was a brand-new scientific research domain,in recent years, the left-handed materials(LHM) has become a research hot spot in the field of electromagnetic field. Electromagnetism characteristic always was a study direction, available in coupler, delay line, solid state antenna, and plate focusing lens, miniature reverse antenna, filter and light navigation and so on. It has the potential in the antenna application that using the unusual optics characteristic of left hand material could realize the plate lens focusing of left hand material, which evanescent wave amplification effect could be used to get weak electromagnetic signals enlarged, in turn enhance the sensitivity of the antenna, and improve the performance of the antenna, antenna directivity of better radiation gain even greater.First of all, the concept introduced the exotic electromagnetic properties of LHM, such as negative refraction and the inverse Doppler effect, etc. its negative permittivity and negative permeability realization mechanism are derived, and its double negative characteristics are display through mathematical simulation. Secondly, the laws of space electromagnetic response behavior of the "JU" structure negative permeability Metamaterials and its structure units with change of its main structural parameters are studied, provide the theoretical basis of LHM.For "JU" structure negative permeability Metamaterials import rate structure, the introduction of a neural network and the technology of genetic algorithms methods was been used to optimize the structure design in this article, and the simulation results proved that the neural network could be approached in an arbitrary precision arbitrary nonlinear function which could better predict its magnetic properties, and the genetic algorithms in optimizing the structure, to achieve a better regional search space and balance of expansion, the integration of these two methods is a fast and accurate analysis methods of the basic structure of left hand materials;at last negative permeability metamaterials and left hand materials were used in the design of Rectangular patch microstrip antenna in order to test its performance with aerial radiation effects. Gain of the antenna radiation was improved 0.9dB and 3.7dB.
