Abstract/Summary:
This thesis introduces reduction of circular patch antenna size using magneto-dielectric substrate. The magneto-substrate substrate is made of 3 by 3 array of uniformly spaced Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) cubes of size 2.6mm embedded in a Teflon sheet. Array of BST cubes generate negative permeability by magnetic Mie resonance. The substrate not only provides negative permeability near the resonance frequency but also high real part of positive permeability and permittivity at low frequency range. Both negative permeability and high positive permeability of the substrate provide the route to reduce the size of circular patch antenna. Detailed theory and design process of the antenna and the substrate will be provided. Fabrications and measurements are also done and will be shown in the thesis.
