With the further development and rapid changes of Internet, especially the wireless Internet was proposed and used widely, location and spatial data for research and applications become more and more import. Positioning user's precise location, expressing the get location with the ways which users can understand, and then providing the location-related services is an import research point in location based services (LBS) and computing context. With the proposal Ontology and Semantic Web, some researchers found that the context semantic of location to research, development and application is more effective. Therefore, physical location, geopolitical location and semantic location three method was successively used to express for location. This paper describes the theoretical basis of semantic location, respectively given a detailed description to realization principle of positioning technology, geographic information system (GIS) and Semantic Web. On the basis, choosing a practical semantic location syatem-campus semantic location system implements the theory of semantic location. In the system, making context semantic abstract to form a compus location ontology library. Due to the support of ontology library, the data obtained and submitted by mobile intelligent terminal is dynamically added, updated and queried to ontology library and reasoning based data in the ontology library, infter new implicit information. After overall analysising and designing the system, the client uses J2ME to collect user and location data and submit it to server; the server adopts J2EE to receive client data; the Jena2 framework is used to add, update, query and reason to the ontology library; Then the server sends the results to client to display for user. Analysising and summarying the lab results shows that the system can achieve the desired research golas.
