GPS is widely used in navigation location speed testing and orientation, however its signal is often blocked by the terrain or object on the ground, so as to reduce greatly its precision, even affecting its usability. Especially in cities where tall buildings crowded and mountains where great forests covered, validity of GPS is only 60%, even in the static situation, GPS is also unable to give the navigation signal. In order to supplement the insufficient, we could adopt integrated navigation. This scheme adopt a lot of high-performance sensor module to make data fusion, it could effectively compensate GPS signal and locate and display the target more accurately.As people are taking more and more intention about information of concrete objects, so intelligent and accurate positioning technique of the target is attracting great attention. This very design is a kind of intelligent target positioning device based on multi-sensor fusion. This device adopt multi-sensor fusion technique into target locating, so as to make the target location more accurately and flexbilitely.The hardware of the system is mainly made up from central control module,data acquisition module and display module which adopt Cygnal C8051F120 series Single-chip Microcomputer which has abundante resorce within chip,great operating speed and support full speed debugging on line as their master control chip. The main function of data acquisition module is to collect data from GPS receiving module,electronic compass and laser distance-measuring module, preliminary processing of these data is also done by it, as to retrieve longitude and latitude from the data of GPS receiving module. After data acquisition module read out data from each sensor under control of central control module, and the data being united and processed, accurate coordinate of the target concerned can be found out. The display module is DMT 32240 T023 Liquid Crystal Display and communicates with central control module through RS 232. The main function of this display module is to display the data and the impact point coordinates of the sensors stored in the central control module, which makes it more intuitive and convenient to observe. The design in this thesis is debugged online by the software of keil and silicon laboratories IDE demonstrates the correctness of design method and accomplishes the design of locating equipment using multi-sensor data fusion.The properties of the system is as follows: 1 It is design by separate modules. The central control module is carried out firstly, which means the accomplishment of the central control module, peripheral interface and design of auxiliary circuit. The central control module is made up of power panel, input and output panel, CPU processing panel and communication panel, which makes it much easier to check and repair.2 It is based on the design of locating equipment included in multi-sensor fusion of C8051F120. The main control chip exchanges the data by using the control of I2C serial bus, serial ports, A/D module, electronic compass module, GPS module, laser ranging. Then it uses the data acquired from several sensors to compute to obtain the special geographical information of the destination point.3 With respect to the choosing of master chip, the master chip chosen by this very design has following advantage:first it has great operating speed and abundante resource, and it has I2C interface> serial por,AD converter module,SPI and some other peripheral interface, which can be easily connected to sensor and its development cycle is somewhat short.4 With respect to its locating function, it can give out the latitude and longitude information of two target, which means it can give the coordinate of the device and the place cared about. It can locate space target.5 With respect to its operation, it has great operation range and it can be used in different ways, and as we had reserved peripheral interface, so this very design not only could be used as locating device, but also could be used as part of some other products, so as to research and develop other products.6 Its volume is very small,development cost low and performance stable.7 It not only has locating function, but also has distance measuring function.
