The electronic compass is a positioning method which takesadvantage of the geomagnetic field. Compared to the mechanicalcompass, the electronic compass has lots of advantages. Itsapplication fields are still expanding as the advance in science andtechnology. It plays a more and more important role in our nationaldefence construction, industrial manufacture and even daily life. Butfor some reasons, our country began late in this field and didn’tascend to a high level. So it’s of great practical significance todevelop a stable, sensitive, accurate and also simple to use, lowcost and easy for volume production. This article is mainly on theresearch about how to develop a magnetoresistive electronic compassbased on the current research status. The key part is about how todevelop the magnetoresistive electronic compass using MMC212xMGmagnetic sensor and how to cope with the measured value. A small insize and highly accurate signal processing circuit is designed inthis article. It’s easy to connect to other associated equipment.The whole process of design and manufacture is described in detail.It’s also including the software compensation topic. We design thesensitivity control in the field correction to lower the effect fromother magnetic objects. The entire work on this article includes theprocessing module, magnetic sensor module, power module, displaymodule and communication module. We use C programming language to dothe real calculation and show the result on the visual interface.
