The so-called "agricultural geology" is a subject which studies the geological background of the agricultural growth, the geology of agricultural soils and agricultural application of mineralogy and petrology for promoting agricultural development. Agricultural geology is proposed by F. A. Fellow and F. V. Richthofen in Mid-19th century. They believe that the soil evolved from the rock debris. In previous, the main research areas of agricultural geology are the geological problems during farming and agriculture. In the 20th century,50 years later, with the global population, resources, environmental issues have become increasingly prominent, agricultural geology is gradually included in the environmental geology or ecological geology areas. The main purpose of the agrogeology investigation is to provide a scientific reference for the agricultural production and regional planning; to provide scientific basis of geology and applied materials of mineralogy and petrology, which are all for improving the output and quality of the crops; to make geology and agriculture mutually permeate and supplement, deeply promote the development of agricultural production, so as to contribute to our scientific and technological agriculture. Our country has launched a national agrogeology investigation in 2001, and has applied the traditional geochemical methods to this field which concerned with our people's lives, due to these, our agrogeology has already made a rapid development. Until the end of 2005, the area of geological survey of agriculture has reached 1.06 million square kilometers. The work of geological survey of agriculture will provide us scientific ground for agricultural development planning, regional land and resources management and planning, environmental protection and pollution control, ecological environment and social economic sustainable development. Therefore, the study of agrogeology not only does good to the recent agricultural economic, but also means a great significance to our long-term social benefits and scientific and technolgicl agriculture.Because of the data of agrogeological survey has many resources and types, so they are indeed massive. How to store and manage these massive date uniformly, and apply them integrately has long been a difficult problem, which not resolved until GIS was used to collect, store, manage and analyze these vast amounts of geographic data. This paper raised the requirements and methods of building the agrogeology investigation database management system based on GIS from the software engineering point of view. According to the current technical standards and the actual situation in Shandong Province, first build the agrogeology investigation database collecting the sampling data and test data together, then establish an integrated, information-oriented agrogeology investigation database management system that includes data storage, management and application using the secondary development technology of MAPGIS, on this basis implement the data entry, editing, query, export and other functions, and finally provide rich means of expression and effective management tools for the agrogeology investigation research. On the basis of the completion of data analysis and functions required for the agrogeology investigation database management system, this paper determined the development objectives, design principles, development environment, user interface and functional design of the system, clearly analyzed, designed and described the functional modules of data management, map management and documents management, and make the direction of the agrogeology investigation information system clear. According to existing problems of GIS data quality control, some works are carried out in order to control the quality of data processing of the agrogeology investigation. The design and implementation of this system discussed in this paper can provide reference for the construction of the ongoing agrogeology investigation information system.
