National Development and Reform Commission treats Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region as a key development area during the next five years as planned by "the Eleventh Five-Year Plan", which means that Tianjin will meet new opportunities and face new challenges. The long-run goal of Tianjin Port of information technology makes the "digitalization" as the theory and Automatic Identification System (AIS), Geography Information System (GIS), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Global Positioning System (GPS) and other key technologies as the means, and serve the port as the purpose of building a fully functional, highly networked, technologically advanced and efficient linkage of information infrastructure and information system.Tianjin Port Pacific International Container Terminal analyzed the business requirements including logical structure, deployment structure and application structure on the overall architecture of the structure and function, and took full account of the flexibility and convenience for users to employ in designing. The system adopts C/S (Client/Server) architecture model, with VC++, PB10.0 and Oracle9i as development tools to design a stable, flexible and efficient system. This system includes container number recognition sub-system, box experience residual sub-system and data acquisition control sub-system to make the intelligent design of container terminal gate system. Currently, the system has been deployed in the Tianjin Port Pacific International Container Terminal. With the deepening of the application, the system will be further improved. Thereby it will enhance the management level and service quality, improve business processing efficiency and ability of the public service and improve the core competencies of port development. And these all will lay a solid foundation for constructing an intelligent, digital port, which assembles the constructing, producing and processing functions.
