This paper is based on the theory of accurate segmented catenaries calculation, adopts the method of modular design and uses Visual Basic 5.0 version to program codes to develop software, which accomplishes the corresponding functions of aerial cableway analysis and calculation. At the beginning, the paper points out the background and significance of developing this software. Then it describes the requirements analysis and architecture design, after which it provides the modules design process in detail and illustrates the usage of this software by utilizing application examples in the end.The software provides cable force calculation, cable length calculation, ground anchoring force calculation, barrier point calculation and force calculation and selection of supporting frame. Meanwhile, it can interact with AutoCAD, which allows reading data from CAD terrain map and displaying sketch map on CAD picture. The primary coverage of this paper is as follows:Firstly, this paper contains the functional requirements analysis of the software, which is the basis of architecture design and module division. In general, the software is divided into project management module, parameter input module, cableway calculation and analysis module and AutoCAD interaction module. And this paper overviews the programming methods of using VB language.Secondly, for the design of user interfaces, this paper divides each main module into several sub-modules and designs the development flowchart of each sub-module. Then this paper designs the form of each sub-module and describes all the controls used in each form in detail.Thirdly, this paper shows the corresponding programming codes of some important event responses, type definitions and sub-processes. And it illustrates the VB standard modules used in the software.Finally, this paper introduces the implementation and experimental test results of the software and demonstrates user interfaces and using method, which implements all of the expected functionalities. This paper summarizes the design work in the end.
