Human-powered search engine has become more and more popular on internet. It has brough great influences, most of which are negative ones, to the society, as well as net friends in China. Nevertheless, it still has great attractiveness to people who are serving on internet.The popularization of human-powered search engine aroused concerns and researches in many academic areas, such as psychology, sociology, communication studies, law, ect. In fact, most researches are made from the aspect of law. Then the number of the researches about paticipant's psychology is not so small. The paticipants of human-powered search will not be paid economically or materially, but they are still subjectively interested in these searches.Many scholars have done deep researches on paticipant's psychology, but they have ignored a big part of human-powered search engine—spectators. In our daily life, participants, who are mostly young people, serve as direct motivations of human-powered search, but high click rate is the provocative of their seaching behaviors. But what are the motivations of the young spectators? This will be discussed in the thesis.Motivations can be classified in several ways. The most common way is to put it into two categories: intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. However, the spectators of human-powered search are also characterized by evident social behaviors. Thus social motivation is taken as another kind of motivation.In order to make deeper researhes, motivations of young spectators of human-powered search engine are divided into two categories: social motivations and individual motivations. This classification is proposed basing on the theory of social behavior.The discussion of the thesis is mainly about motivations of young spectators of human-powered search engine, according to the statistics of interview surveys and questionnaires and basing on the theories of sociology and psychology. This study is made from a new perspective. This study that there are multi-dimensional aspects of the motivations of spectators that arouse the attention for human-powered search engine, mainly including aim-reasoned motivation, value-reasoned motivation, emotional motivation, internal motivation and external motivation. These conclusions supply new perspective for the study of human-powered search engine, enrich its study for this subject, supply certain theoretical bases for future research and, in the end, provide reasonable suggestions for human-powered search engine.
