With the rapid development of automobile industry, the incidence of traffic accidents has also risen rapidly, seriously endangering the safety of residents. At present, analysis and responsibility in the accident are still in the stage of manual analysis. This approach contains lots of human factors. Therefore, if the accident has occurred, how to provide objective analysis and judgment on traffic accidents has been an important research topic.In this thesis, a vehicle trajectory reconstruction handheld terminal system with full functionality is proposed and developed. The handheld terminal receives wireless data sended by the equipment installed in vehicle. With trajectory reconstruction algorithm, the handheld terminal can calculate the vehicle's position. The trajectory of the vehicle involved in accident can then be reconstructed and shown on the LCD of handheld terminal. The handheld terminal based on ARM9 (S3C2440) and embedded Linux can stroe and process data rapidly. With the GUI and touchscreen based on MiniGUI, users could control the system easily. The handheld terminal also has some other functions such as vehicle data storage and vehicle trajectory drawn.The handheld terminal could assist police officers to deal with traffic accidents at the scene accurately. With the data storaged in the handheld terminal, it also provides facts for the follow-up treatment.
