At present, rapid development of the wireless communication technologies raises greater demand of the wireless communication equipments. Low cost and high gain grid array antennas have been proposed by Kraus and have been received extensive development. In this thesis, some kinds of single-ended antenna and differentially-driven antenna have been studied. The dissertation includes the following contents.(1) Single-ended grid array antennaA single-ended rectangle grid array antenna and a single-ended parallelogram grid array antenna have been designed. The former is a 90°linearly polarized grid array antenna and achieved 23% impedance bandwidth and 18.45-dBi gain. The latter is a 45°linearly polarized grid array antenna and attained 8.2% impedance bandwidth and 13.99-dBi gain. The dimensions of two antenna are all 40x40x0.787 mm3.(2) Differentially-driven grid array antennaA differentially-driven rectangle grid array antenna and a parallelogram grid array antenna have been designed. The former antenna is a 90°linearly polarized grid array antenna and achieved 5% impedance bandwidth and 16.7-dBi gain. The latter is a 45°linearly polarized grid array antenna and attained 1.7% impedance bandwidth and 14.3-dBi gain. The dimensions of two antenna are all 40x40x0.787 mm3.(3) 90°comb array antennaA comb-grid array antenna and a 90°linearly polarized comb array antenna have been designed. The former is a 90°linearly polarized grid array antenna and achieved 0.9% impedance bandwidth and 20.15-dBi gain. The latter is a 90°linearly polarized comb array antenna and attained 35% impedance bandwidth and 20.5-dBi gain. Both of them have a narrow beam at H plane and a broad beam at E plane. The dimensions of two antenna are all 164×20×0.787 mm3. (4) 45°comb array antenna (CAA)A complete-touch 45°linearly polarized CAA and a half-touch 45°linearly polarized CAA have been designed. The former is a 45°linearly polarized comb array antenna and achieved 11% impedance bandwidth and 17-dBi gain. The latter is a 90°linearly polarized comb array antenna attained 22% impedance bandwidth and 17.43-dBi gain. The dimensions of two antenna are all 164x20x0.787 mm3.(5) Amplitude-tapered grid array antennaAn amplitude-tapered grid array antenna with the Taylor synthesis method is applied to suppress the side-lobe has been designed. This antenna with a size of 164×20×0.787 mm3 achieved 1.7% impedance bandwidth, 20.12-dBi gain and the side-lobe is suppressed below -20dB.
