Remote data acquisition and transmission system is used in many industrial situations, especially some scattered, unattended applications, where the equipment needs for real-time collection or control. Traditional wireless or cable systems often requires a lot of time, money and other efforts on equipment laid and maintained, etc..~The design of GPRS-based wireless data collection and transmission system" is one set of scheme designed for remote data acquisition and transmission. That is just a combination of the long-range data acquisition and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) wireless data transmission, which can be excellent for industrial areas and solve the human and material resources problems caused by cable transmission, in order to improve the test and control flexibility. And it has solved some existing technical problems admirably.This paper has introduced the system scheme, development process and software and hardware design in detail. IT briefly introduces the development of GPRS networks, network structure, transmission signaling plane, then determines GPRS networks as the basis, taking GPRS client/server as the mode, and finally realizes GPRS point-to-point communication; Data terminal hardware takes C8051F340 as the MCU, including GPRS networks SIM900B of SIMCOM company, large space memory chip AT45DB041D of Atmel company, power and other components, in order to realize the data collection and transmission. The paper also briefly introduces software process and AT instructions etc; through using Delphi7.0, it completes PC software program to realize the initialization, data transmission test of the data terminal host or RACES.Adopting GPRS networks as the data communication platform, this system can make full use of the advantages of GPRS business data transmission---high speed of data transmission, low error rates, low communication cost---and overcome the defect of low utilization rate of the resource using the communication type of circuit switching. The research achievements of this topic has had great value in the fields of industrial, civil areas, and been of momentous significance to the environmental monitoring, public monitoring etc.
