Since the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education being taken as a basic state policy for China at the Fourth Session of the 10th People's Congress in 1996, educational TV programs have thrived gradually as a form of informal science education which undertake the arduous task to enhance the scientific literacy of the whole nation to a certain extent. Along with the establishment of the CCTV-10 (Science and Education) in 2001, which marked the specialization development of Chinese science and education TV programs, CCTV science and education TV programs have reached a higher level. At present, audience ratings together with satisfaction degrees have consisted of the dual system of Chinese TV programs. However, what correlation between audience rating and satisfaction degrees should be? Further more, what factors have caused the various correlations between audience rating and satisfaction degrees of TV programs?Statistical analysis and typical case analysis were applied as main methods in this research. In order to take samples, data about the audience ratings and satisfaction degrees of CCTV-10 were collected. Then four types of correlation between audience ratings and satisfaction degrees were found through analyzing these samples. Finally, the scientificalness, timeliness, dramatization, serialization, and specialization of typical cases were taken into account, which led to discover the factors that determine the correlation between audience ratings and satisfaction degrees of TV programs.Through my research, it was found that programs with high audience ratings and satisfaction degrees emphasize both scientificalness (knowledge points) and dramatization (suspense) which take account higher proportion among them. Besides, better effects were achieved through serialization in daily science and education TV programs, which mean TV programs with high degrees of serialization have higher audience ratings. Nevertheless, no essential relationship was found between timeliness and science and education TV programs.
