Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a kind of high-resolution microwave imaging radar, which has been widely used in military and national economic fields, for it can work all-weather and all-time. The SAR simulation technology plays an important role in the development and testing of SAR. What's more, it is also important to SAR imaging algorithm validation, SAR imaging performance test and SAR target recognition performance test. SAR raw signal simulator that is the carrier of SAR simulation technology will be discussed in this dissertation.This paper discusses the SAR simulation technology theory at the beginning. Range Time domain Pulse Coherence (RTPC) and 2D Fast Fourier Transformation (2DFFT) which are two classical algorithms are focused on. From the two algorithms simulating results, 2DFFT is better used in the raw signal calculating of large scenes, meanwhile, the caculationg memory of RTPC is less than 2DFFT.A SAR raw signal simulator is developed after the theory discussing. The raw data is calculated by computer based on 2DFFT The baseband signal is produced by Direct Digital Synthesize (DDS) technology, Synchronous Dynamic RAM (SDRAM) and Digital to Analog (D/A) technology which are controlled by DSP and FPGA and conditioned by filers and amplifiers. After upconvert the baseband signal by upconvertor, the raw data is converted into saw signal, and the SAR raw signal simulator is accomplished.According to the test results of the SAR raw signal simulator, it performance to meet the needs of technical indicators, and can complete the SAR raw signal simulation.
