Ultra-wideband high power electromagnetic pulse technology has the characteristics of short pulse rise time, high peak power and wide frequency band, etc, which has high value of military and civil applications. TEM horn has characteristic of ultra band and stable orientability, etc. This thesis did deep research on enhancing the TEM horn performance.This thesis briefly introduced the research situation of the Ultra-wideband electromagnetic pulse antenna, and some common types of electromagnetic pulse antennas. TEM horn was the thesis's research object. And then this thesis firstly introduced radiation signal of ultra-wideband antenna and its correlated performance index, and analyzed the fundamental theory of TEM horn.Meanwhile, this thesis analyzed the fundamental theory of dielectric loaded horn antenna, and designed three types of dielectric loaded TEM horn---dielectric filled, port surface tension, and spherical loaded and simulate them base on CST Microwave Studio?. This thesis firstly designed dielectric loaded TEM horn. It could effectively decreased antenna operating frequency, and increased antenna gain. The antenna bandwidth could be 5GHz-64GHz, and the maximum antenna gain could be 18dB; based on dielectric filled antenna, this thesis designed port surface tension loaded TEM horn. Its bandwidth is 5.7GHz-65.4 GHz and the maximum gain is 18.7dB, which showed that the antenna performance had been improved. Based on the port surface tension antenna and the spherical dielectric lens theory, this thesis designed spherical loaded TEM horn. Its bandwidth is 4GHz-66GHz, and the maximum gain is 24.1dB. Compared with the traditional TEM horn, the operating bandwidth and the maximum gain had been improved by 65% and 50%.Finally, based on the analysis of the dielectric loaded TEM horn, this thesis proposed an ultra miniaturized TEM horn antenna, that is, discrete medium article loaded TEM horn antenna. This antenna's metal board has double-angle structure. It was bent in accordance with the exponential curve to achieve miniaturization effect, and it uses dielectric loaded technology to improve antenna performance. This thesis made physical discrete dielectric article loaded TEM horn antenna and tested its performance in anechoic chamber. The test results showed that the antenna bandwidth is 0.68GHz-6.9GHz. Compared with the traditional TEM horn, its minimum operating frequency was decreased by 55%, which realized the purpose of miniaturization.
