With the development of network technology, distributed control systems areincreasingly used in communications, navigation and electric power. Clocksynchronization is the basis of distributed control systems.With the complexity ofthe system and data exchange speed increasing, the demand of clocksynchronization precision becomes higher.Comparing with the various methods ofclock synchronization,the IEEE1588high-precision network time synchronizationmethod is determined as the paper's study.In this paper,a master-slave clock timesynchronization system is designed.This system will provide some reference valuefor the future research and exploration of clock synchronization field.Firstly,the synchronization principles of the IEEE1588protocol, clock type,key technologies and network packets are all introduced in detail.These are thetheoretical part of the IEEE1588protocol. Secondly, through the analysis andresearch of the material for the IEEE1588protocol, the LPC1768+DP83640hardware implementation about IEEE1588is designed in the paper. Then,μC/OS-II, embedded operating system,is selected to manage the various tasks, andit is migrated to the LPC1768. In addition, a lightweight portable network protocolstack (Lwip) is migrated to operating system as the basis of IEEE1588networkcommunications. Finally,the design of the IEEE1588software is a key point in thepaper. the IEEE1588software includes: the analysis of GPS serial portinformation, the conversion of different time value, DP83640timestamp'sextraction and the PTP network packet communication procedures of server andclient.Through the time synchronization performance test between master-slaveclock in the laboratory simulation environment,The results show that the clocksynchronization precision is sub-microsecond,meeting the requirement of highprecision of clock-synchronizing in most distributed measurement and controlsystems,and there would be a brighter propesct by applying it into pratice.
