The partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) method, proposed by Dr. Albert E. Ruehli, shows great advantage in three-dimensional interconnection analysis, due to its hybrid EM-circuit solver. In this thesis, the priciple of general PEEC method along with its hypostasis in mathematics and background in physics is discussed in detail. The EFIE or MPIE is used here to discuss EM problems with respect to RF integrate circuits. By discretizing the integral region properly, the MPIE is transformed into a general equivalent circuit problem which is consisted of a series of independent partial elements.Based on PEEC method, formulas for S-parameters computation are derived and a bandpass filter structure and a four-port coupler structure are selected for comparative study with MoM computation. The results obtained from PEEC and MoM show good agreement.
