In the 21th,the problem of aging population is becoming more and more serous.Because of the fast cadence of modern life,parents are busy with learning and working,children have more freedom of activite,the phenomenon of children lost and wounded is often happened.The old people especially with senile dementia are also lost frequently.With the developent of microelectronic technology,global positioning system technology,wireless communication and computer technology,the portable supervisory navigationing device is become possible based on GPS/GPRS.The paper explound the realize of hardware and software of the portable device based on GPS/GPRS.The goal of the system is to location and supervisor the people.The user can check his position at any time with the digital map.When he lost,he could enter the destination to the device and the device can calculate the shortest way and navigate for him to go home.The supervisor could send command to the device through the supervisory platform or the cell phone.When received the command,the device would send short message to the cell phone of supervisor to report the location.The supervisor can enter the"legal area"to the device beforehand,and when the user go out of the"legal area",the device would send alarm message to the supervisor through the GPRS net.The embedded ARM microprocesser,GPS module and GPRS module are used in the system. The CPU commucate with the GPS module by NMEA-0183 protocal,it can run and stop the GPS module through the UART. When the GPS module is running,it can transmit the received information of position and status to CPU.With the information,the latitude, longitude and height data can be got.The CPU use AT command to control the status of the GPRS module.Using the AT command,the function of dial and short message can be realized.
