With the development of China's overall national strength and technological level, people's living standards, people have more demand for medical care. The monitor has been widely used in clinical operating room, guardianship room from the 70's. It is able to measure the physiological parameter such as ECG, breath rate, blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure and so on. It has become the indispensable medical equipment in clinic at present. USB(universal serial bus)equipment is easy to install and operate. It has high-bandwidth, low cost, can support data real-time transmission, etc. So it has gradually become the development trend of modern data transmission. Especially in data collection, using USB interface to exchange information with PC has the incomparable advantage of the serial port. Its packet communications specification has high reliability and fast speed. With this technology using in the design, the patient monitor conforms to the development trendy of modern medical instrument with the advantage of modulation, intelligentize, network and so on. It satisfies the customers demand.This article describes the design and function of a multi-parameter physiological monitoring system which is based on PC. It mainly describes the components of the hardware system and the design of software system. This multi-parameter physiological monitoring system could receives some of the physiological parameters which are detected by C8051F340 MCU and then transmit all the parameters through USB interface. Finally realize the display, analysis and storage of the physiological parameters. It can be full of patient monitoring and diagnosis. The system application procedure uses the object-oriented design method, controls the USB interface and receives data from USB, uses the PC system can monitor the physiological parameter such as heart electricity, breath, blood oxygen and body temperature and so on.
