Twist nematic liquid crystal displays mode shows the important role in the display today, it is also widely used in the small and medium size thin-film-transistor liquid crystal and simple driven liquid crystal devices, such as: notebook, mobile, standard display liquid crystal device and liquid crystal light value.The response time is an important parameter in the application of liquid crystal devices, and it decides the refresh frequency, the light intensity of display. The response time must be less than 2 microseconds to fit the liquid crystal light value and field sequential color liquid crystal display. The twist nematic liquid crystal device mode can be used for the this requirement beside the optically compensation bend mode which need the bias voltage to stable the bend state and complex compensation film to increase the contrast ratio, twist nematic liquid crystal display have the good contrast ratio and response time. The liquid crystal thickness and the rotational viscosity show the important role in these parameters that affect the response times, but other parameters need to consider. In this thesis, the equations of the response times for twist nematic liquid crystal display are obtained through theoretically analyze and consider all the parameters. The numerical simulation gives the effects of these parameters on the response times. The results should be significant importance to obtain twist nematic liquid crystal device with response time. The color sequence liquid crystal display can be obtained using the optimized liquid crystal and display parameters.
