Body sensor network (BSN), which is a combination of micro-sensor technology, wireless communication technology, digital signal processing technology and computer technology, is the fundamental unit of the ambulant healthcare. Through many minute wireless sensor-nodes on the human body, the BSN can collect different physiological signals, such as blood oxygen saturation degree (SO2), blood pressure, ECG signal and body temperature. And then, it can send the collected data to remote monitoring terminal with wireless technology. In this paper, a kind of BSN was designed based on the star-network. Simultaneously, a monitoring system of physiological signals was implemented used the virtual instrument technology.The BSN designed in this paper consists of ECG signal monitoring node, SO2 signal monitoring node, body temperature signal monitoring node and gathering node, each of nodes is configured based on the programmable system on chip (PSoC).This paper introduced the design of the hardware and the software system of each sensor-node in BSN in details. The hardware circuit is composed of a physiological signal acquisition module and a RF module. The signal acquisition module is mainly used to collect and regulate the physiological signal. In order to reduce the system dimension, a CY8C3866-021 chip, which contains extensive analog and digital peripherals, is used as the control chip of the nodes. The information transmition is implemented utilized a RF module based on the low power consumption chip NRF24L01, which works at 2.4GHz. Based on the hardware system, software system was designed used the PSoC Creator. The function of software control node involves the physiological information collection function and the wireless transmission function. Meanwhile, it can preprocess the acquisition physiologic information.Finally, the software of physiological monitoring system has been designed used LabVIEW. The system realized the real-time display of physiologic information monitored by BSN. Applied the differential threshold method, the heart rate was detected.Based on the research results, BSN and the monitoring terminal could realize the wireless, ambulance and real-time detection of ECG, SO2 signal, body temperature signal, and the heart rate, which laid a good foundation for the further applications of BSN in the field of ambulant healthcare.
