The target of the FTTX technology is that you can connect the device terminal of users with the fiber instead of wire and it is the true all fiber net. With the high performance computer, new net business which needs more bandwidth and stability arises ,such as IPTV,high clear picture transmission, entertainment online and VOD ,and so on.The schedule of three nets mingled in one has been published by the nation and it makes experiments in some cities .There are many factors which accelerate the use of FTTX in our country such as maturer bandwidth connecting technology, lower costs of fiber and the costly copper ,so it will become a new lightspot in the telecom industry in the future .Recently, new bandwidth connecting technology has became a hot spot technology in the telecom domain, such as APON(BPON) which support all kinds of from 155Mb/s and 622Mb/s,EPON which supports IEEE802.3ah standard can transmit in 1.25Gb/s in the up and down direction,GPON which supports ITU-T G.984 standard can transmit in 2.5Gb/s.First of all,the paper introduces the technology of FTTX,that is point-to-point (P2P) and point–to–multipoint (P2MP) access technology. The paper introduces some technologies of PON and compares EPON with GPON in detail.Secondly, the paper analysis and elaborate the basic principle, structure, model, key technology and strengthened property of EPON. Third, the use of EPON discusses the significance and principles of network construction,on the basis was introduced for the customers to chieve different FTTX solutions. Finally, take EPON project which can achieve three nets mingled in one in the new informatization areola as example, propose and realize EPON FTTD plan, and discuss different construction patterns of EPON for net operators.
