Design, Remote Video Surveillance System Based On Arm And Embedded Linux

Since the network era is coming, The video surveillance system,as the core of "information collecting,processing and transmiting", is more and more widely applied in video conference,remote monitoring,video telephony,intelligent transportation systems,etc.Traditional video surveillance system used the form of local analog monitor and PC card-based, they both have much disadvantages that the image is low quality,bad anti-interference ability,high cost, and too big to carry. Moreover, it is hard to achieve in long-range,multi-point system.With the development of communications,computers,multimedia and network technology, it receives more and more attention in the research and realization of the image surveillance system based on embedded technology.Its advantage is that it is a design of specialized hardware equipment,which is tightly bundled with the processor and software, so the performance is more stable and more easy to install,manage or maintain.This paper is about a remote video surveillance system based on ARM and Embeded Linux. The device uses the camera of USB interface in the front to capture original video image,then it puts the data through JPEG compression and deal of network package. When the data become TCP/IP protocol stream, they will be transmitted througth Ethernet or wireless wifi network and sent to the terminal PC. In addition,I transplant an embedded web server on the front-end device so that users can watch the real-time video image with common web browser on any of PC network accessed.It is no need to compile and maintain a specific decoding software to display the image. This system is a perfect combination of embedded technology and network technology.It integrates the video capturing,processing and network transmission into a very small device,which is very easy to install and use. We can use an ordinary network cable or WIFI to make the device into Etherne to achieve the purpose of plug-and-play, which eliminates complex wiring and cable connections.It has great significance to research and develop the embedded remote video surveillance system. It can be widely used in many fields,such as:residential security monitoring,telecommunications sector's station monitoring,forestry sector's fire monitoring and transportation sector's peccancy and traffic monitoring,etc.
