The 21st century is the century of biological science. With the rapid development of biotechnology and transgenic technology, studies on various microbes and pathogens have become more and more frequently. Due to the lag of security system construction and the weak of management links as well as the lack of bio-safety monitoring system and other reasons, laboratory infections have occurred frequently. In particularly, since the outbreak of atypical pneumonia (SARS) and highly pathogenic avian influenza, People have recognized the grim situation faced by the field of bio-safety in China.In this paper, a program of real-time monitoring system for laboratory biosafety is presented, which based on ZigBee technology. Program using CC2430 RF chips and SHT11 digital temperature and humidity sensors is applicated and developed based on the ZigBee protocol stack. Through the real-time monitoring of sensor nodes arranged in the laboratory and relay forwarding of route nodes arranged in the corridor, the system can achieve the purpose of real-time monitoring for biological laboratory. Experimental results show that the wireless-oriented laboratory monitoring program can be operationed stably and reliably,and has the advantage of networking simply> system spending lessly, network expansing easily and so on. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the paper describes the background of the topic selection and the necessity of strengthening the construction of laboratory safety, and based on the analysis of domestic and international research statuses and characteristics of Chinese laboratory, combing the current relative mature technology of sensor network, a design of building the real-time monitoring sensor network platform which based on bio-safety monitoring equipment is proposed.Then, the main function and implementation theory of this real-time monitoring sensor network platform are described in detail, and the system component and the software architecture of the sensor network platform are analyzed at the same time. Based on this, for several node types of sensor network platform-sensor nodes,route nodes and sink nodes-hardware and software design and implementation are carried out, completing nodes design of sensor network which based on CC2430 RF chip, and PC Management Software is described in detail at the same time.Finally, a date acquisition test experiment based on laboratory temperature and humidity is completed,and experiment is a great success. Experiment shows that the entire sensor network platform can work long hours steadily with no rest, reducing the problems caused by field wiring under the traditional way, very suitable for the application of laboratory monitoring and other security fields and so on, and there is a good value in practice.
