With the development of social productive forces, the working hours are decreasing continually and the leisure hours are increasing accordingly, representing the position of recreational activities is raised in modern people's life. As one of medium and methods of leisure, the holiday TV can't avoid topics about leisure. Leisure has changed many contents and expressions of holiday TV and also provides new developing space for it. At the same time, the holiday TV also deeply influences and changes the ideas and ways of people about leisure.However, many people involved in television business haven't got rational knowledge about holiday TV and grasped them as a whole. In practical operations, these people are lack of relative theoretical knowledge and targeted researches about audiences. Furthermore, the function of leisure is also neglected during the production and arrangements of holiday TV programs, all of which have restricted impact on the development of holiday TV.The paper mainly adopts the documental method and method of case analysis. Based on the following analyses of the process of development of holiday TV, the interactions between the leisure life and the holiday TV and practical operations of CCTV-2 in holidays, the in-depth and careful studies on the leisure functions of holiday TV have been made in this paper. First, the paper starts with the concept of holiday TV and its development, and the holiday TV is introduced in detail. At the same time, the whole process from the start to the forming of the holiday TV is described generally. Second, the holiday TV and the leisure life is connected and studied together, representing that they are interacted:the leisure life influences the contents, orientation and development of holiday TV; in turn, the holiday TV affects the orientation and tastes of people's leisure. On these bases, the emphasis is put on the discussion of the leisure functions of holiday TV. The structure and elements of leisure functions of holiday TV is summarized. Finally, this paper studies on the case of CCTV-2. CCTV-2 is the best holiday TV throughout the country. Analyzing the contents and arrangements of specific programs of CCTV-2 in holidays, this paper studies the advantages and disadvantages of leisure functions of holiday TV in China, which is still in the primary stage. And the advice is put forward that in future development, the holiday TV should pay more attention to studies on deeper significance of leisure; initiative and creativity of audiences should be explored actively, and the sense of participation should be strengthened; the leisure education should be focused on and the taste of leisure culture should be improved; values of leisure on sustainable development should be advocated; demands of leisure of different groups should be paid attention to and healthier and ideal way of leisure should be guided for audiences. In these ways, the holiday TV and leisure life can be really combined closely and the leisure functions of holiday TV can be explored to extremes.
