Smart home, the developing trend in the future, offers the users a safer, more comfortable and convenient living environment, meanwhile, users can monitor their own household environment whenever and wherever. The traditional smart home systems are constructed by cables, so they suffer from the weakness of low flexibility, low expansibility, high cost and high workload. Wireless network can not only get over the shortcomings of the wire network, but also conform to the communication features of home-area network better. In this thesis, a smart home monitoring system is designed and accomplished using the ZigBee wireless communication technology combined with the speech recognition technology, sensor technology and ADC technology.The main work of this thesis is as follows:1. After considering the characteristics of different wireless networking, Smart Home Wireless Technology is adopted to build the network. The feasibility of applying the Zigbee to the smart home monitoring system is demonstrated, by comparing Zigbee with other mainstream wireless communication technologies.2. According to the design principle and the function requirements, the overall structure of the smart home monitoring system is determined. An experimental system of smart home system using ZigBee technology is designed and corresponding hardware and software are implemented.3. The wireless radio frequency chip CC2430 which follows the ZigBee standard is selected to be the core hardware. Based on CC2430, certain hardware circuits are specifically designed according to the function requirements of each node. Under the premise of achieving all functions at a minimum cost, the process of design and implementation follows the simple and reasonable principles such as saving I/O resources of the chips as soon as possible and enforcing the ability of anti-interference. The hardware system reserves expansion interface to ensure upgrade and expansion.4. In the development process of system software, embedded programming in each node and monitoring software in PC are implemented respectively using IAR and Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0. To ensure the stability and reliability of the software, the program is designed as simple as possible and efficient programming technology is adopted. Meanwhile, expansion interfaces are also reserved for software upgrading and functions extension. Combined with speech recognition technology, temperature sensor and ADC, the system realizes appliance control, environmental temperature detection, ECG acquisition and monitoring and other functions. Eventually a rudiment smart home monitoring system based on ZigBee technology is completed.
