With the increasing popularity of smart phones, people have chosen it as the main means to obtain important information. Therefore, application services catering to different user needs grow fast. The assistant software in this paper aims at meeting the demand of outdoor sports lovers, providing the services of locating, movement trailing, map viewing, etc. Through the analysis of and comparison among some mainstream mobile platforms like Windows Mobile, Symbian, Palm, RIM and so on, we analyze the advantages and disadvantages of Android platform. Android platform provides developers with the functions of extreme flexible map demonstrating and controlling, so it will make better platform for the sport assistant software in the design and realization of map service.In this paper, we analyze Android platform's functions and features, system structure and its application constitution and mechanism. This paper analyzes the project background, briefly presents the main problem that must be solved, and basically introduces the whole system. Furthermore, it make a detailed analysis on system requirement and structure design, system application structure and logic structure, and function modules such as position locating, map viewing, and historical records searching. The function of position locating module will show the position's information of latitude, longitude, and elevation etc in the screen for mobile phone users, and can mark the information on the map. The function of movement trailing module can record the traces of the user in the form of route map, and can calculate the calorie consumed in the whole movement process, and the numbers of steps if moving on foot. Historical records searching means that user's movement traces are recorded in the database.This system is user-friendly in interface, and easy to operate. And it can stably operate after test, so it is able to meet the user's basic service needs.
