Based on three times of field research on Tibetan areas in Yunnan province, this thesis divides the role of mobile phones in Tibetans'daily life into two aspects: connection and alienation. Moreover, it re-arranges relevant documents based on these two aspects and presents the two aspects in detail through rich field materials. The author finds that mobile phones, as a new technology of communication, are playing an active role in connecting various roles in the society. However, we should never ignore the negative effects of the new communication technology. As a new technology of communication, mobile phones are not simply "A Omnipotent Communication Tool between Peoples" described by the manufacturer. While it eradicates some obstacles in communication, it has also created some new barriers. The discussion in this thesis is limited to a special media format in a specific area, so the applicability of the conclusion made in this thesis still needs further verification through more relevant researches.
