Wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which are composed with plenty of sensor nodes, are placed in monitoring environments to collect useful information to help decision makers make decisions. WSNs are automatic wireless communication networks. They usually communicate through multi-hop ways, which means that data is sent hop by hop to sink nodes. Given the WSNs'properties and key technologies, we mainly analyze the controlling protocols in MAC level in this thesis. Typically, we study the application of ask-answering 1-holding CSMA protocol in MAC level of WSNs.The application of ask-answering 1-holding CSMA protocol in WSN MAC level is studied systematic. Firstly, we introduce the development platform of WSNs from the perspectives of software and hardware. GAINZ, a kind of small-size, low-power, and extendable sensor nodes, is used as the experimental platform in our thesis since it is a perfect running environment for functional programs. Therein, we refer to the WinAVR since it supplies a lot of library functions for AVR. We also refer to the AVR studio, which is the program loading and simulation software of AVR single chip microcomputer.Secondly, consistent with the current hot study topic of WSN controlling protocols in MAC level, we learn the application of ask-answering 1-holding CSMA protocol. Based on the probability distribution, properties of random variants, and throughput, we verify the feasibility of CSMA in WSNs MAC level. Moreover, we use the numerical calculation analysis and simulation experiments to verify the priority of CSMA application in controlling the wireless sensor networks.Thirdly, to apply the WSNs in reality effectively, we analyze the data management technology since it is a main technology when apply the WSNs. Given this, we propose a set of WSN management platforms, which have intellectual property. The platforms, which can realize the operations such as collecting data, sending data, forwarding data, analyzing data, and managing data, are composed with terminal nodes, sink nodes and a management platform. Finally, we conclude the work of this thesis and we also open some avenues of future researches in WSN controlling protocols.
