It's important that developing WLAN services, for ChinaUnicom's broadband strategies and the competitive advantage in the entire business operations, also for the coalescence of fixed and mobile services. Guangzhou Branch of Unicom has deploied WLAN massively before the Asian Games in 2010, more than 5,000 AP were deploied. The scale will expand in future. At the same time when the WLAN network is growing gradually, security issues have followed. In allusion to the large scale deployment of WLAN, the popular general-purpose protocols and encryption methods are studied to choose the proper ones, such as simply, efficient, economical and credible authentication and encryption methods to achieve WLAN security solutions.IEEE802. 11i-2004 is the core of WLAN security solutions. In the framework of IEEE802. 11i standard, achieved IEEE802. 11i-2004's strong network jointed security of strong authentication by 802.1X/EAP first, and then, achieved data confidentiality and integrity protection by AES algorithm (FIPS PUB 197-2001) of the CCMP.
