The energy of the node is supported by portable mini battery in AD Hoc networks. In some applications, the battery of the node cannot be changed when its energy exhaust. Therefore, the useful ratio of energy of every node must be promoted and it must be possible to decrease the energy consumption, which can prolong the existed circle into full play. So saving the energy becomes one of the key issues in the researches of protocols of all layers in Ad Hoc networks.Firstly, the present situation about how to cut down the consumption ratio of node's energy is introduced and the problem that will be faced in mechanism for saving energy is analyzed. After that, the policy of MAC and network layer is studied and the principles of power management are described. The research direction about managing the power of MAC layer is presented in three aspects including reducing the ratio of intercept, the ratio of conflict and the optimal energy. A new saving mechanism is presented under the base of the research of 802.11 PSM work mode in this paper. The new mechanism can increase the number of transmitting the data packet to the next node in one beacon interval during the time of exchanging the frame of ATIM. The node can forecast the time when the data arrive and then wake up in the corresponding time by the exchange of the frame of ATIM,, which can avoid the competition circle and reduce the energy consumption. After the simulation under NS2 platform and the theoretical analyze, Enhance PSM, compared with PSM, has better performance in the aspects about reducing transmission latency and prolonging the survival time...
