In recent decades, thanks to the development of Yan Tai economy, the city has taken on a brand-new look and city museums has been under new construction. The museums have made great progress in its quantity and quality, as well as its exhibit and facilities services. Compared with other famous museums, Yan Tai city museums still has a wide disparity in regional characteristics, management concept and goods production. Besides, there is not a distinguished relationship between the city and the museums. So by following successful experience of other museums, Yan Tai city museums can improve brand value effectively, and go on the road with local characteristics.By using the comparative studies and local researches, the author analyzes the development of city museums; makes comparison with other well-known ones. And the author also studies their history, development courses and typical characteristics in micro and macro aspects. The studies outcome indicates that the city economy, cultural influence and government investment all have contributed a lot to the development of city museums. As a public welfare organization, the museums should not only carry out its basic duties—collection, exhibition, education and research functions, but also take part in the city construction and development. They should conform to the city steps.This paper has five parts. The first is introduction. As the theory foundation of the whole essay, this part introduces the museums history and characteristics. The second part focuses on the impact of the city history and culture, which points out those city museums should be a part of local history and culture, and share the same memory with the citizens. The third part is the relationship between Yan Tai economy and the museums. Yan Tai economic development and brand production should be propelled by city museums. The forth part is the study of the city culture. New prospect and concept which state the advantages of the cultural organization gather will be introduced. The fifth part is conclusion. The final thesis is summarized.
