In order to meet the trend of the merging three networks into one. SUPANET (Single physical layer User-data switching Platform Architecture Network) is developed by Sichuan Network Communication Key Laboratory of Southwest Jiaotong University, based on EPFTS (Ethernet-oriented Physical Frame Timeslot Switching).Employing an outbanding signaling technology, the signaling & management-platform (S&M-Platform) is separated from the user-data switching platform (U-Platform) by SUPA.OAM (Operation, Administration and Maintenance) mechanism is required in SUPANET to confirm the connectivity of the virtual link, find and locate the failures effectively, evaluate the utilization rate of network, and measure the performance of network. The operation, maintenance and management mechanisms of OAM are defined in S&M-platform of SUPANET in the thesis.Appropriative protocols of SUPANET include QoSNP, TMEP, CEP, ACP, and so on. OAM should ensure the normal operation of these protocols.In the thesis, the motivation and requirement of SUPANET OAM mechanisms are analyzed systematically, and a unified multi-management domain OAM network model is presented based on the recent research of SUPA OAM mechanism. Then the implementation of nesting process reflecting the characteristics of SUPA OAM is discussed. Base on the above, combining the OAM technologies in the original transport networks (such as ATM. MPLS, Ethernet. TMPLS, PBT. etc) and the present standards, some fault management technologies of SUPA are extended, some OAM tools, such as continuity check (CC), loopback (LB), alarm indication signal (AIS). remote defect indication (RDI), and link trace (LT). are introduced. In addition, the frame formats and implementations of the OAM tools are also given in details.Furthermore, the operation of OAM mechanism in SUPANET is analyzed beside the definitions of OAM functions, and the performance management and protection switching of SUPA OAM are introduced briefly in the thesis.Finally, the operation of fault management of OAM is simulated, and the feasibility of the functions is to be confirmed.
