Digital computed radiography (CR) is widely utilized in medical image processing, because it has long dynamic range and keeps many details. But it has low contrast, which don't meet the needs of clinical diagnosis. So we need to enhance the contrast. While currently common image enhancement algorithm has some shortcomings, such as making the signal to noise ratio is lower because of contrast enhancement while enhanced over the noise. To overcome this issue, we propose a method of the linear unsharp masking based on wavelet transformation. The original image is transformed by wavelet, and then removes noise using wavelet phase characteristics. Finally, contrast is enhanced by using unsharp masking algorithm. The method of image enhancement proposed in this paper, not only can effectively enhance the contrast, but also significantly reduces the noise. The results show that, after comparison of several methods of image enhancement, the performance of our method is much better than that of other methods. It meets the needs of clinical diagnosis. |
