For the advantage of high transmission speed, great system storage, excellent multipath immunity capacity, limit power wastage and low cost, Ultra-wideband(UWB) technology has became a hotspot gradually in wireless communication research and was considered a key technology of next wireless communication generation. In this thesis, UWB indoor channel model and its simulation are investigated, which based on ray tracing method and FDTD method. The propagation characteristics of UWB signals in a simple empty room is developed, some important conclusions were derived by simulation and analysis.The main contents of this paper are given as follows:(1) The theories of ray-tracing and FDTD were studied, based on both the advantages and the disadvantages of the two methods, the superiority of ray-tracing method combined FDTD method model was presented on indoor circumstance.(2)The 3D ray-tracing technologies were learned, and the SBR/image method was chose, which was one of the 3D ray-tracing methods. The electric field of the corner in the room was processed by the FDTD method.(3)Though ray-tracing method combined FDTD method, the propagation characteristics of UWB signals in an empty room is studied in depth. Author has simulated the distribution of total receive power, the distribution of mean excess delay and RMS delay , the relationship between path loss and distance, and how the electromagnetic parameter influence the propagation characteristics in the room through the tool of MATLAB.
