With the development of data services over the Internet, the access network becomes the last bottlenecks of the entire network, so the high speed broadband access technology is more important. Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) has become the most promising broadband access network technology because of the compatibility with the Ethernet, high bandwidth and good maintenance. But, EPON also has some shortcomings like that it lack mobility and the cost of FTTH is relatively high. WiMAX (802.16) has been widely deployed due to high mobility and easy use, but the wireless channel is not stable and WiMAX provides a low bandwidth for each user. Consequently, EPON and WiMAX are complementary for each other , the integrated network can take advantage of the two network which provides a access network solution with low cost, high bandwidth and wide cover range. The research in this paper is based on the integrated network, we design a distribute bandwidth allocation scheme, and emphasize on the uplink bandwidth allocation algorithm.This pape mainly consists of three parts:In the first part,this paper discusses three integrated technology:the baseband transform-based technology,the ROF(radio over fiber)-based technology and the MOF(mircowave over fiber)-based technology,and then analyses disadvantage and advantage of those technologies. Consideration the technology maturity, the support of bandwidth allocation and QoS, hybrid integrated architecture was adopted under the baseband transform-based technology. In the second part, a distributed bandwidth allocation algorithm for the EPON and WiMAX integrated network was designed.In this part, this paper researches the integrated network aspect of services mapping, designning structure of the MAC frame and bandwidth allcoation algorithm, and a prediction-based diffserv grant bandwidth allocation algorithm was designed at OLT.In the three part,a simulation platform for the integrated network was designed by OPNET. Base on this platform,we simulate the key parameters of QoS. Simulation result witness that the proposed distributed bandwidth allocation algorithm can make the integrated network operate efficient and support all kinds of service well under EPON and WiMAX integrated architecture.
