Evaluation Of Digital Repository Software

Digital Repository is the core of the Long-term Preservation of Digital Resource project.This paper researches Digital Repository.Firstly.this paper introduces the definition of Digital Repository and the research status of Evaluation of Digital Repository Software in China and foreign countries.Secondly.this paper proposes the evaluation index system of Digital Repository Software which includes functional requirements and non-functional requirements.Functional requirements basing on OAIS standard include Ingest, Archival Storage, Data Management, Administration, Preservation Planning and Access. Non-functional requirements include metadata requirements and additional technical infrastructure requirements.This article describes ten kinds of Digital Repository Softwares.and chooses three softwares.This article tests and analyzes DSpace, DigiTool and Fedora.Finally.test results are evaluated by four aspects which includes Technical Infrastructure, Access, Metadata and Preservation.This article gives proposal to Chinese Digital Repository construction by evaluation and analysis, This proposal includes:Constructing Chinese Digital Repository by OAIS model;According to the experience of foreign Digital Repository construction; Constructing Chinese Digital Repository by open-source system;Evaluating Chinese Digital Repository which has constructed.I hope this proposal will help Chinese Long-term Preservation of Digital Resource.
