This paper is the description of the research of an arbitrary wave generator(AWG) based on microcomputer chip as well as digital synthesis technology.Besides,the fundamentals such as frequency synthesis technology,arbitrary wave digital synthesis technology,amplifier circuit technology and so forth,were illuminated briefly in this article.Depending upon the very fundamentals,the AWG was designed and its paramiters included wave and amplitude and frequency and phase can be respectively adjusted and programmed in system.This AWG consists of two parts primarily,that is signal generating module and amplifier circuit module,which can separately work.The AWG has two channels that the one is used to outputting voltage signal while the other outputs current signal,which enable the double output signals of frequency ranged from 1Hz to 1MHz respectively available in addition to the amplitude can be changed between -100V and +100V while the phase increment is 10°in the range of 0°~360°.The maximum output current of the current amplifier circuit comes up to 2A.With 20dB or so of closed loop amplifier gain and approximately 100kHz of bandwidth,the voltage amplifier circuit is definitely a low noise and wide bandwidth amplifier,which can eventually be utilized in some conditions with the purpose of driving specific demanded loads.The test turned out that the AWG has these characteristics,including high stability of frequency,low phase noise,high output power.In order to enhance the AWG's ability of driving load by means of boosting the output current,the increase of the number of parallel connection power transistor is needed.In the case of this design,the maximum output power of this AWG can reach 200W.However,the value of the maximum output power can access 400W through extension so that it well fits few application requirements in engineering in practice.
