Using the revised questionnaire of ethnic identity and questionnaire of self concept , This research had explored 460 Miao middle school students of Songtao. The purpose of this study was to investigate the situation of Miao middle school student'ethnic identity and self concept, to examine the difference in ethnic identity and self concept of Miao middle school student with different background variables, and to analyze correlation and canonical correlation between ethnic identity and self concept. The results showed that:1. Miao middle school students get higher scores in both Chinese national identity and their original identity, the scores of Chinese national identity is relatively higher than their original identity; there exists significant positive correlation between Chinese national identity and original ethnic identity.2. The result suggested that there is a significant difference between Miao girls and boys in terms of Chinese national identity and their original identity,and the former is higher than the latter.3. Mather'ethnic types, educational attainment of mather, grade, the number of Han friends and the language using at home had significant influence on ethnic identity of Miao middle school students.4. The development level of Miao middle school students'self concept is generally high in every domain, and the self concept is positive. 5. The score of Miao middle school students'self-concept in different gender was not significant different, but the score of self-concept was significant different in different grade, in different the number of Han friends, in different the language using at home.6. Miao middle school students'ethnic identity was associated with self concept.7. Miao middle school students'ethnic identity and self concept were provided with canonical correlations.
