| Since the implementation of new round of Chinese Curriculum Reform, writing evaluation as the role of baton has failed to grow in step and seems to be dull. In various disciplines, the writing evaluation is not only the most difficult but also a global problem. Reasonably determination of evaluation criteria of student writing is an important aspect of writing evaluation research, using what criteria to make evaluation more scientific, fair and effective is the focus of writing evaluation criteria research. In this sense, the core of writing evaluation is evaluation criteria.The original writing evaluation systems in China mainland are high school entrance examination and college entrance examination as templates, and there are many problems in theory guidance and implementation operation. That is the evaluation criteria are too traditional, the subjects and ways of evaluation are generally simplification, the evaluation targets are too utilitarian and the end up of the evaluation results. The scientific and further study of writing evaluation will be helpful to form a scientific, open and humane of writing teaching system. Writing evaluation focusing on the development of the students themselves will help them make real progress.This paper chooses the United States and Canada as the research objects, for their earlier study of the evaluation theory and multi-cultural education color. Selecting the writing evaluation criteria of their popular writing pedagogy, local curriculum and school educational institutions. Analysis on the two levels of their evaluation theory and practice, and further points out the merits and shortcomings of their writing evaluation criteria. Based on the above analysis, comparing to the status of writing evaluation in China mainland, sums up what can our China mainland learn from in two levels of theory and operation.This paper consists of the following six parts:Part 1 is the preface. This part tells the reasons and significances of the research. Based on the literatures home and abroad, the research objects are determined. Find the limits of the research process, and propose the research ways and methods.In part 2, the related concepts are defined. The basic concepts used in this paper such as evaluation, writing evaluation and evaluation criteria, and further introduce two distinguished writing evaluation concepts.The writing evaluation criteria of the United States and Canada are stated in part 3. Introducing the background, content and summary of the writing evaluation criteria of the United States and Canada, and lay a basis for the following analysis.In part 4, by introducing the background, content and summary of the writing evaluation criteria of the United States and Canada, further analysis the superiorities and limits in the theory and practice two aspects, and prepare for the following learning experience from it.In part 5, on the basis of introduction and analysis, comparing to our homeland evaluation situation, conclude the learning values of both theory and practice.Part 6 is the conclusion. The whole paper is concluded in this part. The gain and loss of the research are rethought and the future is looked into, In the future curriculum reform, writing evaluation criteria will be further researched, and hopes to encourage the development of writing evaluation. |
