Most American children are enthusiastic,extrovert,independent and adaptable, this kind of character is helpful to their growth and later life.Its formation is closely related with the family education.The American family education did not have such function at the beginning,but developed with the development of the society from the colonial period,growing up from the rough mode step by step.From the colonial era, the American family education experienced several stages of change through agricultural society to industrial society,the social change had a great impact on family education during industrialization and urbanization from late 19th century to early 20th century.Family and family education have taken corresponding changes to meet the social situation and pressure.This period played a very important role, and is also the focus of this study.Studying and analyzing the American Family Education,grasping the context of their development,features and the pros and cons will be helpful to our family education problem.This article based on the development of the American family education,collected and reviewed data multi-dimensinally.The author used the methods of literature analysis,synthesis,comparison and others,then digested and absorbed the data,clarified ideas and studied the change of family education in the different stages through the process of agricultural society to industrial society.By studying the change of structure and function of American families during the period of industrialization and urbanization and analyzing the impact of the industrialization and urbanization on the family and family education,the author summarized the social effects of changes in family education and get the conclusions that"the industrialization and urbanization weakened the traditional family education and promoted the formation of the modern family education".
