Research On The Development Of The Professionalization Of College Counselors

College counselor system is China's unique education and management system. Along with the changing time and the social progress, college counselor system also needs to adapt to the changes of social environment and continues to improve and develop itself. In order to train qualified builders and successors to the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics continuously, college counselors should be initiatively accustomed to the urgent requirements from the professionalization of counselors in current universities and society and give full play to the functions of education, management and service.Set on the professionalization development of college counselors, this paper summarizes the historical evolution of China's college counselors system. Based on the social environment changes which current college counselor system is experiencing, the paper also illustrates the necessity and viability of the professionalization development of college counselors. It puts forward the target choices of the professionalization development of college counselors by discussing its theoretical and practical basis. Research on the current development of college counselors team in Zhejiang University of Technology is conducted in forms of literature inquiries, questionnaires and individual interviews and the existing problems are inducted as well. In addition, the causes and reasons of the problems are analyzed from four aspects: social environment, internal university environment, college counselors and college students. At last, valuable countermeasures and suggestions are proposed for the professionalization development of college counselors in Zhejiang University of Technology.This paper argues that the professionalization of counselors has already become a trend in the counselor system development and the counselors' team construction. It is of important theoretical and practical significance to research specifically on the professionalization development of college counselors and to consider this professionalization as a beneficial exploration which will improve the current situation of college counselors and efficiency of ideological and political education in colleges.
