In this paper, according to the data reported by the Institute of Beijing Population Research in 2006 and 2008, the article ana-lyzes the only-child and their parents' reproductive desire in ur-ban and rural areas of Beijing from three parts:the number of the children wanted; sex preference; procreation time. It puts an emphasis on analyzing different feature groups' willing about birth including three relevant factors:gender, education achievement and income. Thereby, it concludes the differences and its influ-ence factors about the only-child s reproductive desire and sex preference in different circumstances. It also applies sociological theories to analyzing and tries to handle the changed track of only childrens willing about birth in the process of modernization and urbanization so as to put forward some constructive suggestions on adjusting Beijing child-bearing policy.Analysis results show that both urban and rural only - child showed a high degree of consistency in ideal number of children, sex preference and birth time, birth spacing. On the reasons af-fecting reproductive desire, the economic factor is the main rea-son, self-development and social competition is the primary con-sideration why they do not want more children. The main reasons why they tend to birth two children are almost the same; in repro-ductive behavior, regardless of urban and rural, they are main in-dependent acts, but slightly larger they are affected by the parents in rural areas; both urban and rural only-child know highly of the child-bearing policy. Only-child parents mainly think that the ideal number of children is two in rural, but in urban only child parents is the same in only one child or two children. It had the basic convergence on sex preference, and son preference dilu-ted.Urban and rural childs birth will shifted from the traditional to Modern, and showed a lower fertility aspirations, and remained low in the situation, so it is feasible to appropriate the current child-bearing policy.
